Some locks are doubled. You can see the container ship going into the left side as we line up to go into the right side.
You can see train tracks on either side of each lock. Specially built locomotives attach cables to the ship and move along with the ship, maintaining tension to keep the ship in the middle of the lock.
I took all my Panama Canal pictures from the deck of the Disney Wonder as we cruised from the south (Pacific) end of the canal to the north (Atlantic) end. We were told to expect rain. It rains a couple of inches every week in Panama. But our passage was unusual: it started overcast, then became cloudy, but no rain.
